‘Ye who own the faith of Jesus, sing the wonders that were done;

when the love of God the Father over sin the victory won;

when he made the Virgin Mary mother of his only Son.

Hail Mary, hail Mary, hail Mary, full of grace.’

I was reminded of this hymn, that I have known from an early age, last Sunday when I was reflecting upon some words in the day’s Epistle  -  from the opening verses of Hebrews Chapter 11.

FAITH is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.  Indeed, by FAITH our ancestors received approval.  By FAITH we understand that the worlds were prepared by the word of God, so that what is seen was made from things that are not visible.’

In another of his epistles (1Thessalonians Chapter 5, verses 23-24) St Paul talks about God being FAITHful.

‘May the God of peace himself sanctify you entirely; and may your spirit and soul and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.  The one who calls you is FAITHFUL, and he will do this.

In our Christening services (Holy Baptism) we are reminded at the very beginning that ‘FAITH is the gift of GOD to his people.’

We talk about people having FAITH, and we talk about the FAITH of the Church.  We talk about a personal CHRISTIAN FAITH and we talk about a shared FAITH.

Your local Churches, both the people and the gathering places, honoured by St Remegius in Roydon,  St Mary the Virgin in Diss,  St Nicholas in North Lopham,  St Andrew in Fersfield and South Lopham and St John the Baptist in Bressingham are there to share the Christian Faith with you and to help you develop your own Faith.

Go take a look this Autumn and see what happens!

Remember GOD is FAITHFUL and GOD will bless you.

All you need to do is say ‘yes please, I accept your gift dear GOD.’

Footnote:  Our Lady, St Mary’s special day in the Church Calendar is SEPTEMBER 8th - this year the Second Sunday in the Month.
